 DUARTE'S
PEAK
It's the highest in the Antillas, with 3,087 meters.
In it you can find the most deep tectonic depression in
the Antillas, la Hoya de Enriquillo, 45 mts under de sea
level.
ENRIQUILLO
LAKE
It's the bigest hypersaline lake in the Antillas, with 240
to 260 square kilometers. It has the largest
occidental pine forest in limestone land, in the land of
Bahoruco. This pine specie grows in acid land, this is
an ecologic rarity in the world.
It may be the
highest endemic in the Antillas, mostly 39% or more.
Also we have the highest plateau of the Antillas, Valle
Nuevo, 2,200 meters above the sea level.
 Valle
Nuevo is the only place in the Antillas, where there is
alpine and andine type vegetation. There you can
find the highest water fall in the Caribbean, Salto
Aguas Blancas in Constanza, with two water falls with 83
meters, and is placed 1,800 meters above the sea level.
CAVERNS
 We
have the most quantity of caverns in the Antillas. One
of them is the one with the most quantity of drawings en
just one room, more than 1,700, in the José María's cavern
in the Parque Nacional del Este. We have a lot of
prehistoric art.
There's a
Valley between mountains the highest in the Antillas, the
Bao Valleyn, 1,800 above the sea level. It has the
lowest temperatures in the Antillas, -8ºC in the Duarte's
Peak Zone and the Bao Valley.
GLACIATION
Es the only place in the Antillas that had glaciation:
Valle Nuevo and the valleys between mountains: of Bao
and the Macutico, all are located in the Central Mountain
Range.
 THE HAITISES
We have the most impressive limestone region in the
Antillas, The Haitises, covering an 1,600 square
kilometers area with formations of conic mountains -
haitises -, hills, caverns, underground rivers and an
humid forest. A big area of the Haitises is a
national park.
 HUNCHBACKED
WHALES
We have a big number of visits of hunchbacked whaels - Megaptera
novaeangliae- in the Caribbean Sea, for their reproduction,
between January and March, to the bank of La Plata and
La Navidad, also in the Samana Bay. Each year come
an average of 3,000, it's an invaluable show for
ecotourism. This generates more than 20,000 visits
from ecotourists and scientifics that come to Samaná
each year, becoming an important ecotouristic destiny.
  We
have 1,576 km2 of beautiful and large beaches, with
white sand and all day long sun, classified between the
best in the world in the 1 and 2 categories. We
have an infrastructure of more than 150 heavenly hotels,
with more than 30,000 rooms, surrounded with splendid
gardens, bathe with beautiful lagoons, most of them
with majestic gulf courses, modern spa equipment and
dazzling casinos.

rafting, canyoning, cascading, tubing, horseback riding,
mountain bike, caving, hiking, snorkeling, farming
